Senior Backend Engineer (Infrastructure team)

Join Pinwheel, a fast-growing company in the fintech space, as a Senior Backend Engineer on the Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining backend platform services, developing internal libraries and tooling, designing and operating systems related to authentication and secure data storage, provisioning and optimizing cloud infrastructure, and improving CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to enable fast and reliable delivery while designing secure and scalable systems.

• Concevoir et gérer des systèmes liés à l'authentification, à l'infrastructure à clé publique (PKI) et au stockage et au transit sécurisés des données.
• Développer des bibliothèques et des outils internes en utilisant Go et Python, et maintenir les services et fonctionnalités de la plateforme backend.
• Améliorer les pipelines CI/CD et les flux de travail des développeurs en utilisant des outils comme CircleCI et GitHub Actions.
• A curious, self-directed mindset with strong problem-solving skills
• 2+ years of platform, infrastructure, or DevOps experience
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana
• Strong experience with Python and/or Go
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work independently in unfamiliar systems
• Experience running containerized workloads, especially in Kubernetes
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Helm
• Strong understanding of building reliable, scalable, high-performance systems
• Experience with CI/CD systems and modern delivery practices (GitOps, CircleCI, GitHub Actions)
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and cloud-native architectures
• 3–5+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Experience with PKI, encryption, mTLS, or security-focused infrastructure
• Familiarity with GitOps tools like Flux or ArgoCD
• Experience integrating AI tooling (e.g., MCP servers) into production environments
• Exposure to compliance-focused systems (PCI, SOC 2, ISO, etc.)
