General Counsel

Join Waymark, a healthcare technology company dedicated to transforming care for Medicaid populations. As the General Counsel, you will lead the legal function, partner with the CEO and Board of Directors, and build the systems and team needed to scale the company. You will oversee corporate legal matters, commercial contracting, compliance, privacy, and cybersecurity, while providing clear and practical legal guidance to stakeholders across the business.

• As Waymark's General Counsel, you will lead the legal function and serve as a core member of the executive leadership team, partnering directly with the CEO and Board of Directors on legal, regulatory, and strategic matters.
• You will own corporate legal, commercial contracting, privacy, compliance, and cybersecurity, building the systems, policies, and team needed to scale a healthcare technology company.
• You will lead and develop a growing legal and securities team while continuing to build out the function as Waymark grows.
• Passionate about improving healthcare for underserved communities
• Experience managing and developing legal and compliance team members
• Must be admitted to the bar and in good standing, or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., registered in-house status), in the state where the position is located
• Demonstrated experience building and leading a legal function—including compliance and privacy programs—from the ground up
• Proven experience advising C-suite executives and/or a Board of Directors on strategic, legal, and risk matters
• 15+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house leadership experience, ideally within healthcare, health tech, or another regulated industry

• Experience overseeing cybersecurity or information security programs within a technology company
• Experience supporting capital raises, board governance, and equity administration at a venture-backed company
• Prior experience serving as General Counsel or Chief Legal Officer at a healthcare or health tech company
• Ability to build legal, compliance, and security infrastructure from scratch in a fast-paced, scaling organization
• Deep understanding of Medicaid programs, managed care organizations (MCOs), and public health frameworks
