Junior Software Engineer

Join Waymark, a mission-driven startup focused on improving healthcare outcomes for individuals with Medicaid benefits. As a Junior Software Engineer, you'll work closely with a senior engineer, writing code, participating in code reviews, and learning how our systems fit together. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work and grow in your engineering career.

• Participate in the development and maintenance of the messaging platform, including shipping features and fixes.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and other team members to plan and implement new features, and participate in code reviews.
• Set up a local development environment, manage work in Jira, and contribute to sprint planning and refinement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
• Interest in healthcare technology and improving health outcomes
• No prior Elixir experience required — we'll teach it
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment
• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
• Familiarity with at least one modern web application framework (e.g. React, Next.js, Phoenix, or similar)
• Some experience building software — through professional work, internships, bootcamps, or substantial personal projects
• Experience with functional programming
