About The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in motor design, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing an alternator for a nuclear-driven, high-speed power generator. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, create 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings, communicate with vendors, and perform various testing and assembly tasks.   • Design and develop an alternator for a nuclear-driven, high-speed power generator, including the design and analysis of active parts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers and partner closely with the turbomachinery team to develop a system for converting mechanical energy to electrical energy.
  • Create 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in CAD and NX, communicate with vendors to source components, and perform testing and assembly of high voltage electric motors and generators.
  • Experience in design, manufacturing, and assembly of electric motors
  • B.S. in mechanical engineering specializing in electric motors
  • Fundamental knowledge of permanent magnet electric motors
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission
  • M.S in Mechanical Engineering specializing in electric motors
  • Knowledge of motor control systems including SVM
  • Great team player with one team mentality working with turbomachinery, power electronics, thermal, packaging and software teams
