Staff Software Engineer (Simulation Infrastructure)

About The Role
Join Muon, a leading company in the space industry, as a Staff Software Engineer in our Simulation team. In this role, you will shape the architectural direction of our simulation tools, integrate simulation models into complete products, and lead the design, development, and delivery of these products to stakeholders across the company. You will collaborate with engineering management, physical-modeling experts, and the Software Test team, and mentor Simulation and Test team engineers. - Architect the direction of simulation tools and lead the design, development, and delivery of simulation products.
- Collaborate with engineering management to design and deliver simulation services that meet stakeholder needs.
- Mentor Simulation and Test team engineers, define success metrics, and drive team alignment with company goals.
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must either be (A) a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, (B) eligible to access the export controlled information without a required export authorization, or (C) eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required export authorization from the applicable U.S. government agency
- B.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field

- Experience with numerical simulation techniques
- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps best practices
- Familiarity with cloud deployment environments, like Kubernetes and virtual instances
- Strong programming experience in both a high-level scripting language and a compiled systems language
- Willingness to operate in novel technical domains
- Knowledge of the Julia language
- Experience with Software-in-the-Loop simulation
- 10+ years' experience as a software engineer in a team environment
- Fluency in statistical analysis
- Familiarity with Linux systems administration and Docker containers
- General familiarity with orbital satellite operations
- An ideal candidate is an expert generalist software engineer who is as comfortable architecting and building reliable web services as they are delivering high-performance compute jobs
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to collaborate with specialized experts to deliver complex, cross-functional products
