Staff Engineer, Payroll Foundations (d/f/m)

As a Staff Engineer on the Payroll Foundations team, you will own the technical direction of the core data storage and serving system for payroll processing. This hands-on leadership role requires deep expertise in high-scale data storage, particularly PostgreSQL. You will solve complex challenges around correctness, reliability, and performance, and your decisions will directly impact thousands of employees being paid correctly every month.

• Own the technical direction of the core data storage and serving system that Personio Payroll runs on, establishing standards for other teams.
• Design, optimise and scale a PostgreSQL-based data service that handles high load, ensuring payroll data is stored and served accurately.
• Lead long-running technical efforts that span team boundaries within payroll, taking accountability for delivery and quality.
