Engineering Director (Developer Experience)
SentinelOne · New-York, United States
About The Role
Join our team as the Engineering Director (Developer Experience) and lead the organization responsible for how every engineer at the company builds, tests, ships, and operates software. You will own two interconnected functions: Infrastructure Services and Developer Tooling, and define and execute our strategy for integrating AI across the software development lifecycle. This is a critically important role with executive visibility and a clear mandate to deliver measurable results.
- Lead and develop a multi-team organization responsible for Infrastructure Services and Developer Tooling, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the systems that engineers depend on.
- Define and execute the vision for developer experience, including build, test, deployment, artifact management, internal platform capabilities, and AI-augmented developer workflows.
- Own the strategy and rollout of AI tooling across the software development lifecycle, driving adoption, measuring impact, and ensuring these tools are deployed safely and effectively.
- We’re looking for people who are relentlessly curious and committed to continuous learning
- Those who thrive here actively seek out new solutions, experiment thoughtfully, and apply what they learn to drive better, faster, smarter outcomes
- 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 5+ years of engineering management and at least 2+ years leading managers (managing managers)
- Strong communication and executive presence; able to influence across engineering and partner with security, compliance, legal, and product leadership
- Practical experience evaluating, rolling out, and measuring the impact of AI developer tooling
- Excellent strategic thinking paired with a willingness to go deep on technical decisions when needed
- Demonstrated track record in building and scaling developer experience, platform engineering, or DevOps organizations in a mid-to-large engineering org
- Deep, hands-on familiarity with the modern CI/CD and developer tooling stack: Jenkins, ArgoCD, Artifactory or equivalents
- A clear point of view on how AI changes the SDLC and how to capture that value without compromising on security, code quality, or developer trust
- Experience in defining and operating internal developer platforms and golden paths
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes, GitOps, containerization, and cloud-native deployment patterns
- A demonstrated bias toward developer empathy, self-service, and reducing toil
