Staff Backend Software Engineer (On-prem)
SentinelOne · New-York, United States
About The Role
Join SentinelOne, a leading cybersecurity company, as a Staff Backend Software Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the backend services that power our on-premises deployments. You will work with a Go and Python-based microservices platform, ensuring that enterprise customers can deploy, operate, and upgrade SentinelOne in air-gapped and restricted environments. Your work will directly impact the reliability of security infrastructure for some of the largest organizations in the world.
- We’re looking for people who are relentlessly curious and committed to continuous learning
- Those who thrive here actively seek out new solutions, experiment thoughtfully, and apply what they learn to drive better, faster, smarter outcomes
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience with Go in a production microservices environment, including deep familiarity with Flask, SQLAlchemy, and async concurrency patterns (gevent or asyncio)
- Hands-on experience packaging and deploying containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, including writing Helm charts and reasoning about upgrade paths across multiple deployed versions
- Strong PostgreSQL skills including schema design, query optimization, and writing zero-downtime migration scripts using Alembic or equivalent tools
- Solid understanding of observability: structured logging, distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry or equivalent, and building dashboards in Grafana or similar tools
- Experience building and maintaining gRPC and REST APIs with explicit versioning strategies, preferably in environments where breaking changes are costly
