Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Monitoring Service)
Crusoe Energy Systems · San Francisco, United States
About The Role
Join Crusoe Cloud as a Senior Software Engineer, where you will build and own customer-facing observability products within our Cloud Monitoring Service. You will design, build, and operate the services behind our managed logs product, create a self-service experience for customers, and ensure scalable design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in a customer-facing on-call rotation, and implement innovative features that differentiate our observability offering. This is a full-time position with comprehensive health benefits, paid time off, a 401(k) matching program, and resources for mental wellness.
- Conception, construction, and operation of the services behind the managed logs product, including ingestion endpoints, query APIs, retention and access controls.
- Transformation of workflows that currently require manual steps or internal involvement into clean, low-touch product experiences, including the development of APIs, defaults, and guardrails.
- Collaboration with product, cloud support, and site reliability teams to understand customer pain points and turn that feedback into roadmap items and shipped improvements.
- Observability Familiarity: Experience with observability data and technologies, such as log aggregation, time-series databases, or distributed tracing. Familiarity with tools like Loki, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or similar is a plus
- Cloud Expertise: Proven ability to design and scale fault-tolerant distributed systems and build managed cloud services that customers rely on directly
- Communication Skills: Clear ability to articulate technical ideas and connect design decisions to customer needs
- Mentorship: Willingness to mentor earlier-career engineers and contribute to a strong, inclusive engineering culture
- Product Ownership: Experience owning a customer-facing service or product surface end to end, including API design, rollout, and iterating based on customer feedback
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of software development experience, including programming with modern compiled languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or C++
- Customer-Centric Mindset: A genuine interest in how customers experience your work. You notice friction, you care about defaults and error messages, and you measure success by what customers can do without help
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work with cross-functional teams to align priorities and deliver customer-first solutions
- Technical Proficiency: Strong fundamentals in microservices and infrastructure technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD systems
