About The Role

Join our rapidly growing fintech company as a hands-on Controller. You will be responsible for overseeing accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities and business lines. Your role will involve ensuring the integrity of financial information, strengthening internal controls, and scaling financial processes. You will report initially to the CEO and eventually to the VP of Finance & Operations. Key responsibilities include managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, preparing consolidated financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, and overseeing core accounting cycles. You will also coordinate annual audits, develop and implement internal controls, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and partner with business-line leaders to provide financial insights. Additionally, you will drive automation and continuous improvement across finance operations, evaluate and optimize financial systems, and lead and develop the accounting and finance team.

  • The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, is comfortable moving between the detail and the big picture, and is excited by the prospect of building finance infrastructure that can support a company with lending, insurance, marketplace, membership, and media revenue streams — and the ambition to expand well beyond them
  • Strong command of financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting principles
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the judgment to know when to dig into the detail and when to step back
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Finance Manager role
  • CPA designation
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets and financial-systems proficiency. Quickbooks knowledge is an asset
  • Experience managing external audits and stakeholder relationships
  • Previous people-leadership experience
  • Experience with ERP implementations and finance systems optimization
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations and regulated entities (lending and/or insurance a strong plus)
  • Experience supporting private-equity-backed, venture-backed, or rapidly scaling organizations
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition in digital, commission-based, lending, insurance, or advertising business models
  • Experience in fintech, financial services, technology, marketplace, or other high-growth environments
