Mechanical Engineer

Join Impulse, a leading company in advanced propulsion space vehicles. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will be responsible for the design, build, test/analysis, and integration of hardware. You will have cradle-to-grave ownership of primary/secondary structures and critical space mechanisms, working with cross-functional engineering teams. • Design, build, test/analysis, and integration of hardware for advanced propulsion space vehicles.
• Ownership of primary/secondary structure and critical space mechanisms, from concept through launch.
• Formulation of comprehensive cradle-to-grave Road Map for hardware, including driving loads and structural design.
• 3+ years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• Demonstrated ability to model complex shapes including lofting and surfacing
• Demonstrated ability in conceptual design, fabrication and testing of hardware
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively across different teams
• Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
• Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new tools
• Masters' degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• 3+ years' of demonstrated understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
• 1+ years' of demonstrated mechanical design & analysis with space-flown hardware
• 3+ years' of demonstrated experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Capable of performing basic structural and thermal analysis in support of design
