Space Sustainability Engineer [26125]

Join the European Space Agency (ESA) as a Space Sustainability Engineer in Paris, France. In this role, you will support the development and implementation of sustainability strategies for ESA programs, coordinate sustainability evaluations, contribute to eco-design policy deployment, and support various sustainability initiatives. You will need a master's degree in engineering or a related field, a minimum of 4-6 years of professional experience, and knowledge of sustainability reporting and environmental regulations. Fluency in English is mandatory.

• Support the development and implementation of sustainability strategies for ESA programmes, including sustainability assessment methodologies and maturity frameworks.
• Coordinate ex-ante and ex-post sustainability evaluations and studies in collaboration with programme directorates and stakeholders.
• Contribute to the deployment of ESA’s eco-design policy, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, working groups, and sustainability tool development.

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, or a related field;
• Minimum of 4–6 years of professional experience;
• Knowledge of sustainability reporting, greenhouse gas accounting, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and ESG frameworks;
• Knowledge and experience in Sustainability Engineering topics (Clean Space, Zero Debris, Eco-Design, Space Circular Economy, Active Debris Removal, In-Orbit Servicing);
• Knowledge and experience with environmental regulations, such as REACh and RoHS;
• Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills;
• Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
