About The Role

Join Thumbtack as a Senior Software Engineer (Platform) and play a key role in building backend services and APIs that connect business application workflows with our product and platform services. You will bring AI-enabled workflow prototypes into production, create reusable integration patterns, and partner with business and engineering teams to turn high-value problems into durable backend capabilities. Strong backend engineering experience building production services, APIs, or platform capabilities
Ability to turn ambiguous operational workflows into clear technical designs that can be delivered incrementally
Strong collaboration skills with engineering, business, and operational partners, especially when technical constraints and business needs need to be reconciled
Technical judgment for integrations where reliability, security, data correctness, and audibility matter
Comfort learning new domains quickly, including internal systems, third-party business applications, and AI-enabled workflows, with the judgment to know when automation needs human review
