Software Engineer

Join Chalk, a high-growth start-up, as a Software Engineer. In this role, you will tackle challenging engineering problems with a high degree of autonomy and ownership. You will work directly with Chalk's co-founders to productionize the first iteration of our platform, writing in Python and Rust, and designing, implementing, shipping, and maintaining significant components of our query planning and execution engine. • Participer activement à la conception, à la mise en œuvre, à la livraison et à la maintenance de composants significatifs du moteur de planification et d'exécution des requêtes.
• Collaborer directement avec les co-fondateurs de Chalk pour industrialiser la première itération du produit.
• Travailler de manière autonome et prendre en charge le développement de nouveaux composants des systèmes existants.
• Comfort with leading development of new components of existing systems, and with taking ownership of existing software
• Strong working knowledge of computer science fundamentals. We’re not looking for experience from drilling leet code – we need folks who are comfortable building and maintaining real systems
• Track record of learning new concepts quickly
• Ability to work autonomously & to make pragmatic tradeoffs with an eye towards business outcomes
• Strong communication skills
• Experience with Rust
• Experience with developing PaaS-like software
• Experience implementing data infrastructure
• Experience with distributed systems/compilers/query planners
• 4+ years experience of professional backend software engineering experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
