Staff Engineer (Java)

• Lead the development and implementation of software projects from inception to deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Design and implement microservices powering customer-facing and internal APIs, addressing technical challenges and optimizing code for performance.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to deliver appropriate results, and lead the technical specification, development, integration, testing, and release of software components.
• Strong ability to context-shift and effectively manage multiple competing priorities
• Familiarity with a variety of programming/scripting languages; experience with JavaScript and React component libraries (e.g., Ant Design, Material UI, React Bootstrap) is a plus
• Proficiency with modern CI/CD and development tools, including Maven, Git, Jenkins, Puppet, and Jira
• Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Strong database proficiency, including relational databases (SQL, Hibernate, MySQL, Oracle, Postgres) and NoSQL solutions (Redis, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (TDD, Mocking, Unit/Functional/Integration)
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and integrating advanced AI workflows or Model Context Protocol (MCP) to accelerate delivery is an asset
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., EC2, ECS, or cloud deployment workflows)
• 6+ Years of production coding experience, preferably in server-side Java
• Hands-on experience building RESTful Web Services using Spring Boot and Docker
• BS Degree in Computer Science/Engineering related degree or equivalent work experience
• Bonus points if you have experience managing direct reports or leading teams
• Expertise in Service-oriented architectures, microservices, advanced database schemas, relational and nonrelational databases, and highly scalable/available web services
