Intermediate Software Engineer

Join Big Viking Games as an Intermediate Software Engineer, where you'll build and maintain our live-service virtual worlds, YoWorld and Fish World. You'll primarily work on the front end using TypeScript and HTML5, with occasional work on the PHP backend. You'll be part of a senior team, working on a mature, large-scale codebase and shipping features and fixes to a live player base on a weekly basis. • Concevoir, développer et maintenir des fonctionnalités et des outils pour les clients de jeux en utilisant TypeScript, HTML5, JavaScript et PHP.
• Collaborer avec une équipe senior pour examiner le code, donner des retours constructifs et améliorer le code existant.
• Utiliser des outils de profilage de performance pour diagnostiquer et améliorer le code existant, et résoudre des bugs difficiles en production.
• Comfort writing efficient SQL and reasoning about caching and data-store trade-offs
• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• Solid command of at least one of Java, TypeScript, or PHP, and the ability to work across all three
• A track record of shipping multiple features in a live production environment
• A sound understanding of algorithmic complexity, general system architecture, and source control
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is strongly preferred
• HTMX experience
• ActionScript and flash experience
• PHP experience
• Strong SQL/MariaDB experience
• Experience with Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Redis, Memcached
• Comfort working in large, long-lived codebases and improving them incrementally
• Comfort using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude) in a real workflow
• Free-to-play or live-service game development experience
