Accounts Assistant / Book Keeper

About The Role
Join our fast-growing company as an Accounts Assistant/Book Keeper. You will be the operational backbone of our finance function, reporting directly to the CFO. Your responsibilities will include managing month-end close, multi-currency accounting, accounts payable and receivable, VAT returns, statutory filings, and payroll. You will also have the opportunity to improve and automate finance systems and processes as we grow.
- Own month-end close and deliver accurate management accounts and commentary to deadline.
- Manage multi-currency accounting across the UK, US and EU, overseeing AP, AR, payment runs, billing accuracy and credit control.
- Improve and automate finance systems and processes as the company grows, ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance.
- Strong technical accounting and a controls-led mindset, with proven ownership of month-end close and statutory reporting
- Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite or similar)
- Part qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
- Fluent with Claude and similar AI tools — you reach for them to speed up analysis, drafting and process automation
- Confident with Excel and Google Workspace (G-Suite) — Sheets, Docs, Drive
- Hands-on, pragmatic and happy to own your workload in a fast-paced, low-bureaucracy environment
- 2–4 years' experience, including time in a commercial/industry finance role post-practice
- Confident communicator who can explain finance clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Experience in a digital agency, professional services, ecommerce, DTC or high-growth scale-up
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to financial records
- Strong communication skills - able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your workload
- Proven experience in a finance or accounts role, ideally in a fast-paced or agency environment
- Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks or similar)
- Part-qualified or fully qualified (AAT, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Experience working in a digital agency, ecommerce or startup environment
- Exposure to multi-currency accounting
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
