About The Role

Join Perplexity, a leading AI company, as an Engineering Manager (TLM, Agents). In this role, you will lead and grow our Agents engineering team, consisting of AI/ML, backend, and full-stack engineers. You will be responsible for designing AI agents, training action and decision models, providing excellent user experiences, developing secure agentic capabilities, and optimizing data representations. You will also provide technical leadership, drive product reliability, oversee hiring and mentorship, and interface with the co-founders to deliver strategic objectives.

  • Lead and grow the Agents engineering team, consisting of AI/ML, backend, and full-stack engineers, to build agentic experiences within the Comet ecosystem.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple layers of a rapidly growing product in the AI agents space, guiding the team’s system architectures and product roadmaps.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and mentorship for a rapidly growing team, developing rigorous interview pipelines and working closely with recruiting to source candidates.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing and delivering parallel technical projects; ability to guide highly-opinionated teams in making sound tradeoffs and prioritization decisions is critical
  • Experience managing engineering teams, including recruiting, growing, and retaining high-caliber talent
  • Context engineering and tool interfaces for frontier AI models
  • Domain expertise in at least one of the following areas:
  • 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 of those years as an engineering manager
  • Proficiency in Python (bonus points for TypeScript, Go, and/or Rust)
  • Strong background and hands-on technical experience with frontier models (the more relevant to open-world agents, the better)
  • Post-training and reinforcement learning (particularly for multimodal models)
  • Strong foundational familiarity with the full AI product stack
  • Browser technologies (CDP, Playwright, extension development, etc.)
  • Strong product intuition and taste for user experience excellence
