About The Role

Join Artelys, a leading company in the field of operations research and optimization. As a Numerical Optimization Specialist, you will design and develop cutting-edge optimization solvers, working on various digital libraries and projects. You should have a PhD in applied mathematics or operations research, or equivalent experience, and proficiency in Python or C/C++.

  • Conception et développement de solveurs d'optimisation avancés, en mettant l'accent sur la robustesse et la performance du logiciel.
  • Développement de nouvelles fonctionnalités algorithmiques combinant mathématiques et informatique, en travaillant sur divers types de bibliothèques numériques.
  • Collaboration avec les équipes de R&D pour résoudre des problèmes complexes et contribuer à la création d'un environnement de travail propice au développement des compétences.

Holder of a PhD in applied mathematics or operations research, or have equivalent experience of at least 3 years after obtaining an engineering degree or higher education qualification, you are the ideal candidate if:

  • You have proficiency in Python or C/C++ programming language
  • You have expertise in various optimization methods: graph theory, continuous optimization algorithms, combinatorial optimization algorithms, nonlinear optimization, etc.
  • You have proficiency in designing and optimizing algorithms for high performance computing (HPC) environments
  • Fluency in English. French is a plus

Following skills are a plus

  • You have additional knowledge in software programming (Spring, BDD, NoSQL, REST/Microservices, Message queuing, etc.) and in compilation
  • You are proficient in other programming languages (MATLAB, R, Julia, Java, C#)
  • You are proficient in linear algebra tools (especially methods for solving linear systems)
  • Previous contributions to open source projects related to numerical optimization, simulation, or computational science would be highly valued. Active participation in relevant communities and networks is appreciated

**Working conditions:**

  • Permanent contract, managerial status with a 4-month probationary period.
  • Up to 2 days of remote work per week possible.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Offices located in the city center of each city where we are located
  • **Recruitment process:**
  • Step 1: An initial technical interview via video conference with two recruiters (45 minutes x 2).
  • Step 2: A second interview via video conference with two other recruiters, as well as a brief 15-minute discussion with the CEO of Artelys (45 minutes x 2 + 15 minutes).
  • Step 3: If your interviews are successful, we will invite you to visit our premises to make you an offer in person and introduce you to the work environment.
