About The Role

Join Couchbase as a Deployed Customer Engineer (DCE), where you will be the technical bridge between our engineering excellence and our customers' ambitious business goals. You will write production-grade code, build high-performance database architectures, and ensure our platform powers mission-critical, AI-driven applications. Your responsibilities will include hands-on coding, product configuration, architecture design, embedded partnership with customer development teams, problem-solving, value realization, product feedback loop, sales alignment, and operational agility. You should have a deep understanding of NoSQL concepts, distributed systems, and SQL-based query languages, as well as strong proficiency in at least two major programming languages.

  • Act as the technical bridge between Couchbase’s engineering excellence and customers’ business goals by writing production-grade code and building high-performance database architectures.
  • Deliver strategic solutioning and work within customer engineering teams to deliver business outcomes through technical implementations, including hands-on coding and product configuration.
  • Integrate directly with customer development teams, participating in sprints and code reviews to ensure best practices are understood, implemented, and governed.
  • Operational Agility: Comfortable navigating Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift)
  • Database Native: Deep understanding of NoSQL concepts, distributed systems, and SQL-based query languages (N1QL)
  • Consultative Mindset: Ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to both developers and executive stakeholders
  • Polyglot Developer: Strong proficiency in at least two major languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#)
  • Domain Expertise: Proven track record of deploying large-scale distributed databases or data intensive applications
  • Couchbase Values: A drive to "Attack Hard Problems" and the empathy to "Be A Great Human" while working inside a customer’s environment
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Technical Consulting
