About The Role

Join Toast, a leading restaurant management platform, as a Software Engineer II on our Identity Management team. In this role, you will develop reliable code and algorithms for user management, permissions, and web services. You will collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, designers, data analysts, and other engineers to ensure the security and safety of our platform. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining core services and repositories, managing users, authentication, and permissions. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on small businesses and help scale a SaaS product from millions to hundreds of millions of users.

  • Develop and maintain core services and repositories in Toast, including integrations, managing users, authentication, and permissions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, product designers, product data analysts, and other engineers to ensure safe and secure development practices.
  • Champion best practices such as quality integration, unit testing, end-to-end testing, and performance testing, and participate in code reviews.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiar with asynchronous communication tools (e.g., Pulsar, JMS, Kafka)
  • The capacity to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, communicate clearly with others to solve the problem, and share knowledge to help the whole team succeed
  • Proven track record of delivering reliable services to production
  • Experience working in the IAM space is a plus
  • Proficient in Java, Kotlin or another object-oriented language, with a deep understanding of testing, quality & best practices
  • Enthusiasm for solving impactful challenges and writing clean, scalable code
  • Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and enterprise messaging
  • Experience working in a team with Agile/Scrum methodology
  • A passion for technology and continuous learning
