Software Engineer (Discovery)

Join the Discovery Team at Twitch, where you'll work on features and systems that help communities form, grow, and thrive. This position is primarily focused on backend systems, with future efforts moving more client-side. You'll collaborate with product managers, technical leads, and other engineers to design, develop, launch, and operate interactive experiences. The ideal candidate has proficiency in modern languages and frameworks, prior experience building consumer-facing products at scale, and a minimum of 1 year of experience developing software in a professional environment.

• Collaborate with product managers, technical leads, and other engineers to design, develop, launch, and operate interactive experiences.
• Investigate, instrument, and solve performance problems while building distributed applications at scale.
• Work backwards from customer problems to drive business impact, leveraging proficient coding skills in modern languages and frameworks.
• Proficient coding skills in modern languages and frameworks such as React, Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, etc
• Prior experience building consumer-facing products at scale
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 1+ Years experience developing software in a professional environment
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Experience with languages/frameworks we use at Twitch: React, Typescript, Golang
• Experience with mobile development
• Experience building software and services using AWS technologies such as ECS, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS, and Step Functions
• Familiarity with Twitch, gaming, and/or streaming on Twitch
