About The Role

Join our team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in actuation and dexterity. You will lead the design and analysis of actuators, collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team, and participate in the development of our next-generation robotic hand hardware. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in electric actuation design, proficiency in CAD, and a strong understanding of motor control systems.

  • Lead the detailed design and analysis of actuators, including the selection and packaging of electric motors, bearings, and drivetrains.
  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers to generate concepts, conduct engineering analysis, and iterate on designs.
  • Guide junior engineers in improving their designs, and participate in the pilot build of your designs, performing root cause analysis to resolve issues.
  • High proficiency in CAD (NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience prototyping and testing mechanical components
  • Great team player able to perform within a dynamic start-up environment
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Understanding of motor control systems and PCB layout principles
  • Experience in designing with linear transmissions (ballscrews) and micro-actuation
  • The ability to multi-task and manage conflicting deadlines
  • Experience in robotic hand and gripper design
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Mastery of engineering fundamentals / first principles
  • Knowledge of kinematics, structures (statics), dynamics, joints/mechanisms, and electromechanical packaging optimization
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years in development of actuation and/or robotic systems or similar
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Hearing and speech to communicate
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
