Senior Accountant (Capital Markets)

Join Coinbase, a leading digital asset manager, as a Senior Accountant for the Coinbase Asset Management (CBAM) business. In this role, you will manage accounting operations, ensure compliance with US GAAP, and provide financial insights. The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of US GAAP, compliance requirements for registered investment advisors and commodity trading advisors, and a working knowledge of fund accounting.

• Manage accounting operations for Coinbase Asset Management (CBAM), including monthly close, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
• Lead compliance activities based on the requirements for an SEC registered investment advisor and NFA registered commodity trading advisor, and prepare monthly and quarterly financial results presentations for CBAM management.
• Streamline, automate, maintain, and improve processes, systems, and internal controls to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Controllership organization.
• Must have the ability to work EST hours to meet daily regulatory filing deadlines
• Experience in serving as a trusted finance and accounting advisor to business executives
• Possesses 5–7 years of public accounting and/or industry, including required experience within brokerage, asset management, investment advisory, or other regulated financial services organizations
• Ability to work cross-functionally to obtain all relevant facts, understand the business requirements, articulate the accounting requirements and communicate the conclusions reached
• Exceptional organizational skills, timeline management skills and attention to detail
• Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and COSO
• Previous people management experience leading or mentoring team members
• Advanced knowledge of reporting and compliance requirements for an SEC registered investment advisor and NFA registered commodity trading advisor
• A desire to work in a fast growing, exciting and agile business
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in fund accounting
• CPA
• Knowledge of SQL, Python or other programming languages
• Knowledge of blockchain technology and the crypto economy
• Experience working in Netsuite, FloQast and G-Suite
