Senior Software Engineer

Join Mimecast, an AI-First engineering organization, as a Senior Software Engineer in Strategic Initiatives (R&D). In this role, you will contribute to the build-and-prove layer of our AI Native Engineering function, working across tooling, enablement, and architecture. You will help build and maintain reusable paved roads, collaborate with teams to surface challenges, and contribute to knowledge sharing. Strong hands-on software engineering skills, a full-spectrum engineering background, and solid DevOps and platform engineering fluency are required. Experience in cybersecurity or adjacent enterprise SaaS domains is preferred.

• Full-spectrum engineering background spanning multiple disciplines (e.g., QA, tooling, platform, application development) — not a narrow specialist
• Strong communication and facilitation skills: comfortable communicating technical work clearly and collaborating with engineers across teams
• Solid DevOps and platform engineering fluency — comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and modern delivery toolchains
• Demonstrated ability to work with increasing autonomy, prioritize across competing demands, and drive initiatives forward without close direction
• Working knowledge of secure development practices and the ability to integrate security considerations into tooling and architectural patterns
• Experience contributing to internal tooling, shared engineering infrastructure, or developer-facing platforms that serve a broad engineering organization is a plus
• Experience in cybersecurity, email security, or adjacent enterprise SaaS domains preferred
• Solid engineering experience at the mid-to-senior level with evidence of growing scope and initiative
• Prior experience in a developer enablement, developer experience, internal tools, or platform engineering function preferred
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts including prompt engineering, model evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent orchestration frameworks is valuable but can be developed in-role
