About The Role
Join Betterment's Controller team as a Senior Accountant, where you'll play a critical role in safeguarding the financial health of the business through detailed analysis, accurate financial reporting, and strategic financial guidance. You'll assist in the month-end close process, oversee the management of fixed assets, prepaid assets, and revenue, and continuously seek and implement innovative process improvements. You'll also play a key role in the annual external audit process and perform additional ad-hoc requests throughout the year.

- Strong understanding of financial statements and US GAAP
- Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, with a high level of accuracy and keen attention to detail in variance analysis and financial data interpretation
- Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Proficiency in Excel
- Desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong background in both private and public industry sectors, including audit, financial reporting, and variance analysis
- Experience with Netsuite preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
