Senior / Lead Backend Engineer

As a Senior/Lead Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting and building highly scalable, low-latency systems that power our platform. You will work closely with product, infrastructure, and data teams, and have a significant impact on millions of users. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, strong proficiency in Java, and a deep understanding of RESTful API design and distributed systems.

• Architect and build highly scalable, low-latency backend systems, and design critical APIs.
• Mentor other engineers, drive technical decisions, and collaborate with product, infrastructure, and data teams.
• Build systems that handle thousands of requests per second, ensuring performance tuning and schema design.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in Java and hands-on experience building scalable microservices
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with significant time in production environments
• Experience building systems that handle thousands of requests per second
• Strong grasp of system design, architectural patterns, and security best practices
• Comfort with cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS preferred), CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive cross-team projects
• Relational databases: Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and schema design
• Bonus: Redis, RabbitMQ, or other message brokers and caching systems; SRE/DevOps or DevSecOps experience
