About The Role
Join our team as a Senior Hardware Test Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in the design verification testing of our humanoid robot, Torso. In this hybrid position, you will be responsible for developing and executing verification strategies, leading subsystem-level characterization, and driving improvements in test coverage and design robustness. You will work closely with hardware design, systems engineering, and analysis teams to ensure requirements and testability are addressed early in development. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of strong engineering rigor and continuous improvement.
- Own the design verification strategy for Torso electrical subsystems and components, including PCBAs, batteries, sensors, and power electronics.
- Define verification plans, coverage goals, and test protocols across the product development lifecycle, and partner with hardware design, systems engineering, and analysis teams.
- Develop and execute subsystem-level characterization and design verification testing for torso electronics, and lead investigation of verification test failures and nonconformances.
- We are seeking a Senior Hardware Test Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area
- Strong preference for experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or other complex hardware systems
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in test engineering, design verification, or electrical validation
- Proficiency in python scripting for test automation
- Experience validating battery systems, power distribution, and safety-critical electrical subsystems
- Familiarity with sensor verification (cameras, LiDAR, IMUs) and performance characterization
- Proficiency with lab tools such as oscilloscopes,sensors, logic analyzers, DAQs, power supplies, and environmental test equipment
- Deep understanding of electronics verification testing, including power, signal integrity, and sensor interfaces with a strong preference for experience with EtherCAT architecture
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to translate test results into clear design feedback
- Demonstrated ability to execute effectively and drive results in dynamic, highly ambiguous environments
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, capable of driving alignment and leading technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams and supplier partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred)
