About The Role

Join Cyera, a high-growth SaaS company, as an Employment Counsel. In this high-impact role, you will serve as the primary legal partner for the People Operations function in the US, providing day-to-day employment counseling and building frameworks for a compliant employment practice. You will handle administrative agency matters, support compensation and benefits development, oversee compliance and regulatory filings, and monitor AI-related employment developments. The ideal candidate will have 7-10+ years of employment law experience, a strong working knowledge of state and federal employment law, and a business-forward mindset.

  • Serve as the primary legal partner to People Operations in the US, providing day-to-day employment counseling across the employee lifecycle.
  • Handle administrative agency matters (EEOC, DOL) and litigation disputes directly, and oversee HR and payroll audits.
  • Own OFCCP compliance reports and similar regulatory filings, oversee HR and payroll audits, and assist in drafting and updating the Employee Handbook.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders
  • Able to work onsite at least 2-3 days per week at our NYC HQ
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment law, including wage and hour, leaves of absence, accommodations, and workplace investigations
  • J.D. and active membership in the New York or California State Bar preferred, but open to other U.S. jurisdictions
  • Experience advising companies with diverse workforces in high-growth SaaS or technology environments
  • 7-10+ years of employment law experience (in-house and/or in a reputable law firm experience advising high-growth technology companies)
  • Strong ability to triage, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines while maintaining ownership and accuracy
  • Business-forward mindset with a bias toward enabling revenue; you balance legal risk against commercial impact and default to finding a path to "yes"
  • Experience handling administrative agency matters (EEOC, DOL)
  • Experience in litigation/settlements of employment disputes
