About The Role

Join 23andMe, a leading genetic testing company, as a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you will design, build, and operate backend services and data stores that turn raw genetic data into customer-facing results. You will leverage AI tooling to automate testing, accelerate feature delivery, and ship with confidence through robust CI/CD pipelines. You will also partner with product, science, and engineering teams to translate requirements into reliable, scalable systems. Additionally, you will build AI-powered data pipelines that deliver personalized health and ancestry insights directly to customers, and debug production incidents to ensure services are back online.

Design, build, and operate backend services and data stores for genetic data.
Leverage AI tooling to automate testing, accelerate feature delivery, and ship with confidence.
Partner with product, science, and engineering teams to translate requirements into reliable systems.
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent; 4+ years of industry experience
Deep, hands-on Python: libraries, services, data pipelines
Hands-on experience working with CI/CD deployment pipelines and testing frameworks
Infrastructure as code experience, ideally in Terraform on AWS, containerized in Docker
Experience operating distributed systems at scale: debugging, observability, performance tuning
