Social Media Content Creator (Contract)

Join 23andMe, a cutting-edge genetics company, as a Social Media Content Creator. In this contract role, you'll create engaging content that educates and inspires our community. You'll work closely with the Head of Social Media and Head of Brand Marketing, and collaborate with the broader Brand Marketing and Science teams. The ideal candidate has 2-4+ years of experience in social media production or digital marketing, strong editorial skills, and advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and native platform editors.

• Conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit high-quality video and photo content tailored for various social media platforms.
• Act as the team’s "ear to the ground" for internet culture, identifying viral trends and algorithm shifts that 23andMe can authentically join.
• Develop audience-driven content series that spark conversation and deepen our followers' understanding of their own genetic stories.
• The ideal candidate can film and edit content regularly and is brimming with ideas
• Organization: Experience using project management tools (Jira) and social scheduling software (Sprout Social)
• Experience: 2–4+ years of professional experience in social media production or digital marketing, preferably for a science, health, or tech brand
• Copywriting: Strong editorial skills with the ability to write catchy captions and clear, concise educational scripts
• Platform Expert: Understanding of the nuances between platforms and which content performs the best on which platforms
• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop) and/or native platform editors (CapCut, TikTok, Canva, etc.), Claude Design, and ability to use reporting tools to analyze content performance and optimize creative accordingly. Proficiency with both smartphone and DSLR camera required
