About The Role

Join Astranis, a leading satellite technology company, as a Harness Design Engineer Intern for Fall 2026. This twelve-week internship offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging projects and gain hands-on experience in spacecraft systems and subsystems. As an intern, you will design flight and test harnessing, create wiring diagrams and schematics, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in mechatronics or electrical engineering.

  • Collaborate with the harnessing design team to create wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings of spacecraft harnessing.
  • Utilize CAD programs to route harnessing in 3D and select appropriate design components based on various requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define interfaces between different subsystems and assist in the fabrication of in-house cables.
  • Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in mechatronics or electrical engineering (or equivalent technical degree)
  • Interest in learning about, designing, and working with various spacecraft systems and subsystems
  • Familiar with power and data transmission concepts
  • Experience with 3D CAD software like Solidworks
  • Experience with various connectors and wire types including MIL circular and D-Sub/microD
  • Experience with Zuken (or other harness design software)
  • U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required. (To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))
