Mechanical Engineer

Join Astranis, a rapidly-growing space technology company, as a Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will design, evaluate, test, and build spacecraft parts, processes, and mechanical systems. You will work closely with the team to integrate parts and systems into the spacecraft and develop procedures to improve the build process. • Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test primary structure, bracketry, and mechanisms for spacecraft.
• Develop requirements for components and systems including loads, interfaces, and functional requirements.
• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for spacecraft systems and integrate parts and systems into the spacecraft.
• Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Demonstrated fundamentals with mechanical and thermal analytic abilities; FEA experience is not required, but preferred

• A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development
• 1-4 years of mechanical design or equivalent experience
• Mastery of mechanical CAD
• You must have a strong problem-solving background as well as hands-on skills and an enthusiasm for novel design. Experience with spacecraft, mechanisms and/or composites are benefits but not required
• To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
• Experience in designing in a vacuum environment with large temperature swings
• Electromechanical design experience
• Experience with vibration environments
• Experience with composite structures
