Application Engineer (CV/ML)

External listingfull-time16 days ago

About The Role

Join Lumafield, a cutting-edge technology company focused on revolutionizing the way businesses utilize CT-generated data. As a CV/ML Application Engineer, you will work directly with customers to develop and implement machine learning models for various applications, including defect detection and process control. You will also collaborate with internal teams to enhance Lumafield's platform and contribute to the company's AI/ML strategy. This role offers a unique blend of customer-facing work and internal platform development, with opportunities for travel and professional growth.

  • Develop, test, and implement machine learning models for various applications, including defect detection and process control.
  • Collaborate with customers to scope ML applications, build and validate models, and deploy them into production workflows.
  • Work closely with internal teams to translate customer needs into product capabilities and contribute to Lumafield's internal CV/ML strategy.
  • Comfortable seeing a model through the full lifecycle: data preparation, labeling, training, evaluation, and iteration based on real-world performance
  • 3+ years of professional experience including hands-on work building and evaluating computer-vision models on image data including object detection, classification, labeling, and validation
  • A track record of shipping pragmatic, useful models — balancing speed, quality, and customer impact
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30%, primarily to customer sites
  • Comfortable operating autonomously with a distributed team
  • This is a blended role. You should expect roughly 70% of your time on model development and related engineering work and 30% hands-on applications work: operating scanners, performing Voyager analysis, and presenting results to customers. We are looking for someone who is energized by that breadth
  • Experience working directly with customers or other non-ML stakeholders to translate business and engineering problems into ML solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical results to engineering, product, and executive audiences
  • Comfort operating in engineering and manufacturing environments, including working with team members on the production floor
