About The Role

Join Volta, a rapidly growing biotech company, as the Head of Finance. In this strategic role, you will serve as the senior finance leader and trusted business partner to the CEO and leadership team. You will build and scale the finance function during a critical phase of growth and commercialization, leading company-wide financial planning, fundraising support, board reporting, and operational finance. You will partner closely with leaders across Operations, Manufacturing, Commercial, and R&D to support strategic decision-making and ensure strong financial discipline as the business grows.

  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to the CEO and leadership team, helping drive company strategy, growth planning, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Lead company-wide financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, cash runway management, scenario planning, and KPI development.
  • Build and scale the finance function over time, including hiring and managing accounting and finance team members as the company grows.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, hands-on startup environment with evolving priorities and ambiguity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA, CPA, or advanced degree preferred
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills, with experience translating complex business data into actionable insights and operational decisions
  • Experience in hardware, biotech, life sciences, medtech, or other operationally complex environments, including familiarity with cost accounting, inventory management, manufacturing finance, and global operations
  • Proven ability to serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, supporting fundraising, board reporting, operational scaling, and company growth initiatives
  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience, with a strong background in FP&A, strategic finance, and business partnering in high-growth or venture-backed environments
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build scalable finance processes, manage cross-functional stakeholders, and grow finance and accounting teams over time
