Senior Revenue Accountant

Join Gusto as a Senior Revenue Accountant, where you will play a crucial role in the Revenue Accounting team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end revenue recognition process for the Gusto Retirement segment, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. You will also have the opportunity to build and leverage AI tools and automation to streamline processes and increase efficiency. • Own the end-to-end revenue recognition process for the Gusto Retirement segment, ensuring compliance with ASC 606.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, subledger reconciliations, and supporting schedules for retirement revenue streams.
• Build and maintain automated solutions using AI tools, Python/SQL, or Excel scripting to eliminate manual work.
• Bachelor's in Accounting; CPA preferred (active or in progress)
• Advanced Excel; Python or SQL a strong plus
• Proven track record building automation — scripts, tools, or workflows that reduced manual effort (you can speak to these concretely)
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused on revenue accounting
• NetSuite or revenue subledger experience a plus
• Big 4 or public accounting background preferred; fintech or financial services a bonus
• Comfortable with ambiguity, curious about AI, and excited to build processes from scratch
• Strong ASC 606 knowledge applied to SaaS, subscription, or fee-based models
