Product Counsel

Join Mirage as a Product Counsel, where you'll be the primary legal partner for our product, engineering, and research teams. You'll advise on new features, model launches, and creative tools, while also managing the company's broader legal needs across commercial, corporate, and employment. This role is ideal for a strong product lawyer looking for startup experience and the opportunity to shape and scale our legal function.

• Advising on new features, model launches, and creative tools from concept through ship, particularly in the areas of generative AI and synthetic media.
• Owning consumer-facing legal surfaces like Terms of Service, privacy policy, in-product disclosures and consents, and app store compliance.
• Building lightweight legal processes, such as launch reviews and escalation paths, that enable speed rather than slow it down.
• Practical, business-first judgment. You give clear, concise answers and workable paths forward, not memos
• 5+ years of legal experience, including substantial product counsel work at a consumer technology company (in-house, or firm plus in-house)
• Fluency in the legal landscape of consumer software: privacy (GDPR, CCPA, COPPA), IP, UGC and content issues, and consumer protection
• Comfortable operating as the only lawyer in the room, with the curiosity to stretch into the unknown
• J.D. and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar with an ability to practice in-house in New York
• You've been an early legal hire at a startup, or have been looking for that experience
• You've managed outside counsel relationships and legal spend
• You have experience with generative AI, synthetic media, or similar technologies
