About The Role
Join Divergent, a company revolutionizing product design and manufacturing through a fully digital production system. As a Staff Robotics Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize the robotics and machine-control software that powers our automated manufacturing platform. This hands-on role requires a highly experienced engineer with a strong background in robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing. Your work will directly impact factory performance, machine reliability, production throughput, and the evolution of Divergent's next-generation manufacturing technologies.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software that controls robotic systems, automated manufacturing equipment, and production workflows.
- Architect robust software solutions for highly automated production environments, evaluating tradeoffs between performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate manufacturing and automation requirements into scalable software solutions.
- Experience designing and implementing complex software systems deployed in production environments
- Experience developing software that interfaces directly with hardware, robotics systems, industrial equipment, or automated machinery
- Strong proficiency in C++, C#, Python, or similar programming languages
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience developing robotics, automation, industrial systems, or machine-control software
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and systems-thinking skills
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Controls Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with industrial robotics platforms such as ABB, FANUC, KUKA, or Yaskawa
- Experience with motion control, machine vision, path planning, automation systems, or robotic work cells
- Experience in advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, defense, or industrial automation environments
- Experience with real-time software systems and distributed control architectures
- Familiarity with PLCs, industrial communication protocols, and manufacturing execution systems
- Experience developing software for production environments where reliability and uptime are critical
