About The Role

Join Descript as our first Field Marketing Manager, where you'll build our field marketing program from the ground up. This role involves defining how Descript engages with audiences, creating impactful experiences, and collaborating with various teams to drive growth. You'll manage all aspects of in-person and virtual events, develop playbooks for scalability, and measure program impact. Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of B2B marketing experience, strong project management skills, and a passion for storytelling and creativity.

  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving startup environment
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25–35%
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a bias toward action
  • You've built programs, not just executed them. You enjoy creating structure where it doesn't yet exist
  • You use data to make decisions and know how to measure marketing impact beyond registration numbers
  • 3-5 years of experience in B2B marketing, with 2+ years of field marketing or event experience. Also open to 4+ years of events agency experience (especially if you have worked with B2B clients)
  • Experience partnering closely with Sales to drive pipeline and revenue outcomes
  • You're equally comfortable developing a strategy, negotiating with a venue, reviewing event signage, and presenting results to leadership
  • Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail—you can manage dozens of moving pieces without losing sight of the bigger picture
  • Experience marketing SaaS products to marketing, communications, creative, or enterprise teams
  • Experience with account-based marketing strategies
  • Experience building a field marketing function or launching a new program
  • Experience producing workshops or educational experiences—not just traditional events
  • A genuine appreciation for storytelling, video, podcasts, AI, or the creative process
