Head of Legal

Join Counsel Health as the founding Head of Legal, a pivotal role in shaping the company's growth and compliance strategy. You will work across commercial, corporate, and healthcare regulatory matters, building the legal function from the ground up. You will partner closely with leaders across the company, lead commercial legal work, build scalable legal and compliance processes, and oversee ongoing work across various legal responsibilities. • Partner with teams across the company on a wide range of legal questions, helping the business move quickly and thoughtfully.
• Lead commercial legal work, including customer, vendor, and partner agreements, and build scalable legal and compliance processes that support growth.
• Own key healthcare regulatory and compliance areas, help design the legal and compliance infrastructure behind our insurance billing operations.
• Comfort working independently and owning complex legal matters from start to finish
• Deep experience in healthcare, either as counsel to healthtech companies or in-house at a healthcare or healthtech business
• Experience early in your career at a top-tier law firm, ideally in a corporate practice
• Strong judgment and the ability to balance risk, speed, and company priorities
• Excitement about building systems, processes, and a function from the ground up
• A practical, business-minded approach to legal work
• Experience managing outside counsel and driving important workstreams forward without close oversight
• Experience being an early legal hire at a startup or scaling company
• Familiarity with insurance billing, healthcare regulatory frameworks, and approval processes
• Experience helping a company grow through new markets, products, or operational complexity
