Senior Scientist, Biomarker Laboratory, Next Generation Sequencing

General Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to lead the development, validation, and execution of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) capabilities. This role will serve as a key member of the global biomarker laboratory network, supporting global clinical trials including China patient cohorts, and ensuring alignment and consistency of biomarker data across regions (e.g., US and China labs).. The ideal candidate has in-depth technical expertise in NGS technologies and a strong background in molecular biology and bioinformatics, coupled with proven leadership in method development and scientific innovation in a clinical biomarker laboratory setting. Essential Functions of the job: Drive the strategic design and implementation of new NGS workflows, including sample preparation, library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis pipelines. Develop and validate NGS-based assays in compliance with internal quality standards and relevant regulatory guidelines including both global regulatory expectations (e.g., FDA/EMA) and China-specific requirements (e.g., NMPA where applicable). Oversee and execute NGS-based clinical sample analysis for various applications (e.g., whole genome/exome sequencing, RNA-seq, cfDNA, targeted panels) for global clinical trials, including China patient samples, ensuring data quality suitable for global regulatory submissions Author and review method development and validation protocols, reports, and SOPs. Ensure quality control, data integrity, and timely delivery of analytical results. Collaborate with bioinformatics, clinical biomarker and operations, quality, and portfolio management teams to ensure robust and scalable solutions. Support comparability assessments between different sequencing platforms, labs, or regions as required for global studies Maintain accurate lab records and mentor junior scientists. Other Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in NGS platforms (e.g., Illumina, MGI) and associated wet-lab techniques. Fluent in both spoken and written English is required, with the ability to work effectively in an English-speaking environment on a daily basis, actively participate in and contribute to global meetings and cross-regional discussions, communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to international stakeholders, and independently prepare and review scientific, technical, and regulatory documents in English. Hands-on experience in method development, validation and clinical sample analysis for NGS-based assays including but not limited to targeted panels, RNA-seq, cfDNA, single cell sequencing etc. Strong understanding of bioinformatics pipelines and data analysis principles. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically. Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills.
