Associate Director, Global R&D Sourcing

General Description: This position is responsible for category management for clinical CRO and FSP outsourcing and will partner with clinical functions to develop outsourcing strategies, external resourcing strategies, and partner selection and implementation. This role will also serve as a business partner to development functions, including Global Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Data Management, and Statistics, to identify cost optimization opportunities and support implementation, contributing to the R&D superhighway. In addition, this position is responsible for vendor management, including maintaining strategic relationships, resolving issues, tracking performance, and organizing governance meetings to ensure supplier quality oversight and maximize the value of external partnerships. Essential Functions of the Job: Category Strategy Development Monitor current trends in the R&D CRO/FSP market and broader industry developments. Lead and support business engagement to understand outsourcing requirements and develop category, outsourcing, and vendor strategies for functions and studies. Lead and support category management initiatives to optimize external spend. Business Partnering Build effective partnerships with internal stakeholders. Provide supply market intelligence to support business strategy development. Identify cost optimization opportunities and develop business cases. Partner with the business to support implementation and project management. Vendor Management Lead and implement supplier relationship management activities. Manage vendor performance, issue resolution, and risk oversight. Oversee key MSA and rate card negotiations with vendors. Oversee effective contracting and execution within the category.
