About The Role

Drug Product (DP) function is responsible for designing and developing formulations and manufacturing process that enable delivery of BeiGene’s candidate molecules for clinical studies and product commercialization. We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative scientist with skillsets in the design, characterization and understanding of solid oral dosage forms to join our formulation group. The applicant should have strong knowledge of physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties that are important for oral drug absorption and other drug delivery approaches, as well as general knowledge on manufacturing process development. The candidate must collaborate effectively across disciplines to holistically assess and address development needs and challenges. Lead formulation and process design/development for small molecule development candidates. Address challenges during the drug product development process through an in-depth scientific and engineering evaluation of the issue. Represent DP as functional lead within CMC team settings to ensure that biopharmaceutical, physicochemical, material and engineering considerations are incorporated into formulation and process design/development. Design and execute experiments to get clear conclusions to advance development programs. Lead the development of technologies and scientific innovations that improve DP’s capability to deliver small molecule pipeline. Advance scientific expertise within function. Proactively demonstrate leadership by advising and sharing knowledge with peers and management. Collaborate with other functions to align a broad range of strategies that support drug discovery and development programs. Publish and/or present in conferences with manager’s supervision, build scientific connections in pharmaceutical science community. Qualifications: PhD degree in pharmaceutics, chemistry, engineering, material sciences or related fields. Solid understanding of physicochemical properties as related to drug delivery and preclinical and clinical formulation design. Good knowledge of physiological barriers to drug absorption, including various potential transport mechanisms. Good understanding of the principles of formulation and process development. Technical expertise on common analytical tools for drug substance, formulation and process characterization (e.g. HPLC, DSC, TGA, PXRD, spectroscopy, drug release). Familiarity with basic statistical tools. Good learning agility, strong passion for science, and critical thinking. Capable of cross-functional teamwork. Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to clearly summarize results for presentation and report generation. Capable of using English as working language (verbal and writing).
