About The Role

We are seeking an innovative and experienced antibody/protein engineering leader to lead a group of scientists. The candidate should have a proven successful record in antibody/protein engineering and extensive knowledge of the technologies used in antibody/protein engineering. The candidate should also have a strong protein structural background and broad knowledge in diseases areas. The experience working on bispecific antibody platforms is desired. The successful candidate will lead and manage one of the antibody engineering teams in BeiGene’s biologics organization. The person will also be responsible for identify, evaluate and bring in new technologies to BeiGene. He or She will represent the antibody engineering department on cross-functional teams involved in developing strategy, assessing, and making go/no-go decisions, and may serve as project leader on selected pipeline programs if qualified. The person will report to the Executive Director, Antibody Engineering. The actual job title will be decided pending successful interview and discussion. Responsibilities: Build, lead and mentor a group of motivated scientists in a fast pace working environment to support the biologics discovery portfolio. Oversee daily operations of the antibody engineering department, including sequence and structure-based analysis and modeling, sequence optimization, affinity maturation, humanization, multiple specific antibody design and generation. Identify and implement new technologies/platforms to improve the quality and speed of antibody engineering process to meet department and company goals. Develop novel technologies/platforms including multispecifc platforms. Design and implement functional and cell-based assays to support antibody engineering efforts. Build strong working relationships with fellow BeiGene colleagues, key external advisors and collaborators. Qualifications: PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Structural Biology or related disciplines with at least 5 years relevant industry experience in a biopharmaceutical setting. Extensive experience in protein/Ab engineering, structural biology and bispecific antibody design and engineering with a proven track record of innovative solutions. Ability to lead a group of scientists to work productively in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment Extensive knowledge in variety of protein engineering platforms and technologies. Experience in working on multiple specific antibody platforms Experience in leading programs at all stages of biologics drug discovery from lead generation to candidate nomination. Broad knowledge in disease biology. Experience of hiring, managing and developing direct reports. Strong communication, organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills.
