Find out more: Our approach to R&D Position Summary This is an exciting opportunity to join GSK’s Asia Biostatistics group in China and play a key role in advancing healthcare through innovative statistical methodologies. You will lead and deliver statistical support across the clinical development lifecycle (Phase 1–3), including multi-regional clinical trials (MRCTs), early research and late-phase development and regulatory activities, while also having opportunities to contribute to innovative analytics where relevant. Responsibilities This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following: Lead statistical design, analysis, and interpretation for clinical trials across Phase 1–3, including multi-regional clinical trials (MRCTs), and contribute to protocols, SAPs, study reports, and key decision-making milestones. Contribute to early phase development, including exploratory analyses and, where relevant, application of advanced or innovative statistical approaches, e.g., modelling, machine learning, or translational analytic. Provide statistical input to regulatory deliverables and interactions, including submission support, responses to health authority questions, and inspection readiness as needed. Partner with matrix teams across Asia and/or global R&D to drive asset development and decision-making; influence stakeholders and ensure high-quality, fit-for-purpose statistical evidence. Serve as statistical expert for internal and external collaborators, investigators, consultants, and contract resources Basic Qualification We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals: PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or closely related field, including life sciences research with major quantitative modelling component 5+ years’ experience of data analysis and modelling in life sciences Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Hands-on experience applying a broad array of foundational statistical methodologies, including but not limited to: Bayesian methods; causal inference; predictive modelling; neural networks; SVM; penalized regression; random forests or similar Experience in the design and analysis of early phase clinical trials Highly proficient in R or Python and highly computer and digitally literate, including use of LLMs Knowledge of, or interest, across multiple aspects of drug development, e.g., drug discovery, translational science, pre-clinical and clinical development, interventional and non-interventional research Good communication and influencing skills, curiosity, passion for patients A strong sense of initiative, urgency, drive, pragmatism and judgement – overall an ability to make things happen Work Arrangement This role is hybrid, offering a mix of remote and on-site work in Shanghai.
