Job Title: Head of Medical – Hong Kong, Macau Location: Hong Kong (with regional responsibilities across Asia) Reports to: Head of the Hong/Macau Business (ad interim this is the Head of Global Business and Portfolio strategy ) Position Summary: The Head of Medical will lead the medical affairs team across Hong Kong, Macau and selected Asia markets where Hengrui Pharma will have it’s own country teams. This role is pivotal in shaping the medical science strategy, driving scientific engagement and partnering cross-functionally to support the successful pre-launch, launch and lifecycle management of oncology and other medicines. The role serves as the senior medical expert and key scientific interface with healthcare professionals, academic institutions, and internal stakeholders, while ensuring alignment with the company medical strategies. The ideal candidate will put the needs of patients first and bring deep oncology and local clinical practice knowledge. A strong track record in medical affairs and fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin and English are needed. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role at the current stage, responsible for both strategic leadership and direct execution of medical activities, with future team expansion expected as the business grows. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership Develop and execute high impact Country Medical plans that bring deep local real-world clinical insights and therapeutic expertise Lead cross-functional medical planning for product launches, lifecycle management, and scientific communication. Serve as the primary medical representative with China medical affairs and in the Country Business leadership team Scientific Engagement & External Collaboration Represent Hengrui externally in scientific forums, medical congresses, advisory boards, regulatory authority and other external engagements. Work with Key External Experts to ensure the expert statements to support Hong Kong regulatory are accurate and ready in a timely manner. Collaborate with commercial team to identify unmet medical needs and gather insights from health professionals, translating into actionable medical and business strategies. Work with Market access to ensure and market access/reimbursement applications are accurate and evidence based Lead and support the development and execution of medical education programs and scientific exchange initiatives. Provide medical strategic input on treatment landscape to support product registration and across the full product lifecycle. Lead the set up named patient programs to enable patient access for innovative medicines in areas of high unmet medical need Medical Excellence & Compliance Ensure high standards of medical governance, scientific integrity, and compliance with local regulations, industry codes and global SOPs. Establish robust local medical processes and SOPs Lead the medical review and approval of promotional and scientific materials. Provide medical input into regulatory submissions, health authority interactions, and pharmacovigilance activities. Clinical Research & Evidence Generation Lead country data generation activities, including evidence gap analysis, real-world evidence, publications and Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS). Provide medical and scientific support for international clinical trials with Hong Kong, and Singapore sites. Collaborate with clinical operations and regulatory teams to facilitate study feasibility, site selection, and execution. Team Leadership & Development Over time, as the business becomes established, lead and develop the Country Medical team, putting patients first and fostering a culture of high performance, integrity, and continuous learning Provide medical training to internal teams and work closely with commercial and market access to support brand strategies and access initiatives. Manage the Country Medical budget b Qualifications & Experience: Medical Degree (M.D.) or advanced scientific degree (Ph.D., Pharm.D.). Minimum 10 years of experience in medical affairs within the pharmaceutical industry, with oncology specialization strongly preferred. Proven track record in oncology, including product launches, KOL engagement, and clinical research. Proven experience in medical management role (e.g., Medical Lead, Medical Manager, Head of Medical) in Hong Kong or a comparable APAC market. Strong understanding of Hong Kong and Macau healthcare systems, clinical practice, regulatory environments, and cultural nuances. Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills. Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, and quality management. Proven ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. High level of integrity and strong compliance mindset Hands-on, agile and pragmatic Prior involvement in product launches and early-stage affiliate setup is an advantage.
