About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to join our Traded Risk/Market Risk Management Consulting team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of traded risk management and thrive in a dynamic environment. This role involves leading and managing high-profile projects, working closely with clients to provide innovative solutions, and developing junior staff. Key Responsibilities: · Lead and manage comprehensive traded risk management consulting engagements for our clients, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. · Evaluate clients' risk management frameworks, trading strategies, systems, and controls to identify areas for improvement and provide robust, actionable recommendations. · Advise clients on establishing and enhancing their market risk functions and frameworks, covering trading books across rates, FX, credit, equities, and structured products. · Guide clients on the new product approval process from a market risk perspective, ensuring comprehensive risk assessments and alignment with regulatory and firm-wide standards. · Formulate and implement stress scenarios and advanced market risk analytics for clients to quantify potential losses in trading portfolios stemming from major market shifts. · Oversee and advise clients on the daily risk management of derivatives positions, including analysis of significant PnL events, VaR fluctuations, limit monitoring, and reporting; identify key risks and drive the implementation of effective mitigation strategies. · Supervise and guide junior client staff or internal teams in designing, automating, and managing the production of risk monitoring reports (daily, weekly, monthly), incorporating advanced metrics such as performance attribution, concentration analysis, stress testing, beta, and VaR calculations; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regular review to support proactive risk oversight. · Direct ad-hoc investigations into complex risk, P&L, or modeling issues for clients, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges and enhance risk frameworks. · Foster strong partnerships between client risk and Front Office trading teams to implement and refine risk controls, promptly addressing issues such as limit breaches, gaps in monitoring, or system deficiencies to maintain robust risk governance. · Develop and foster long-term relationships with key clients by understanding their unique business needs and offering tailored solutions. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams both internally and externally to deliver multi-disciplinary solutions focused on traded risk management. · Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes (e.g., FRTB), and emerging risks related to traded instruments to provide clients with timely and relevant insights. · Mentor and coach junior team members, providing guidance on career development and best practices in traded risk management. · Contribute to business development and thought leadership by generating business ideas, white papers, and presenting/pitching to clients. Qualifications: · A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Risk Management, Financial Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Finance, or Economics. A master's degree or a professional qualification such as CFA or FRM is highly desirable. · At least 8+ years of relevant experience in market risk management or a product control function within a consulting firm, global investment bank, top-tier securities house, or similar financial institution. · Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of market risk management frameworks, including VaR, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, limit governance, valuation methodologies, and regulatory standards (e.g., FRTB). · Sound understanding and practical experience in equity/FICC derivatives products, complex structured products, and related risk management tools. · Strong understanding of financial products and markets, including derivatives, fixed income, equities, and commodities trading. · Knowledge of Counterparty Credit Risk, XVA, and collateral management. Understanding or experience on treasury risk in the areas of ALM, FTP, IRRBB and liquidity risk would be a significant plus. · Strong technical proficiency in Excel and VBA/Python is essential. Experience with other IT skills such as SQL and database management is preferred. · Proven experience in leading and managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, often in a fast-paced environment. · Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and analytically. · Proven leadership experience, including managing senior risk professionals or engaging effectively at governance and committee levels. · Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with senior client executives. · Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. · Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential for effective client engagement in Hong Kong and the wider region.
