About The Role

A career within Financial Services Tax will give you the opportunity to help our FS clients meet their tax obligations while shaping tax strategy that materially impacts their business. You will advise clients on local and cross‑border tax matters, act as a trusted strategic consultant in commercial decision‑making, and support clients through M&A by identifying tax risks and recommending practical mitigation. You will also partner with clients’ in‑house tax teams to strengthen tax risk management and improve decision quality. Remove barriers to team performance: identify process improvements, streamline workflows and resolve issues preventing the team from working effectively. Coach and mentor junior staff—identify strengths, provide constructive feedback, and create stretch opportunities to accelerate their development and ownership. Analyse complex tax and commercial proposals, synthesise multiple information sources, and build clear, commercially focused recommendations. Engage multiple stakeholders (clients, internal specialists, external advisors) to gather broader perspectives and design practical solutions. Ensure delivery quality: review work products, address sub‑standard outputs, and uphold firm and client expectations for professional standards. Use data, modelling and insights to inform conclusions, quantify tax positions and support robust decision‑making. Develop and articulate a point of view on key global and sector trends (e.g., BEPS/Pillar Two implications, regulatory change) and translate their impact for clients. Manage diverse viewpoints to build consensus and secure positive outcomes for clients and the firm. Communicate complex tax concepts clearly and persuasively to non‑tax audiences including CFOs, boards and business leaders. Act with integrity and uphold PwC’s code of ethics and business conduct in all client and internal interactions. Requirements A recognised university degree or equivalent professional qualification. Qualified member of a recognised accounting and/or tax professional body. At least five to eight years of progressive corporate tax experience, with demonstrated ownership of client deliverables. Direct experience advising financial services clients (e.g., banking, insurance, asset management) on tax compliance, advisory, or M&A matters. Strong written and spoken English. Proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is preferable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior client stakeholders. Sound analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills; able to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines. Proven leadership skills: ability to lead engagements, manage teams and coach colleagues. Good working knowledge of tax technology and AI applications is an advantage (or demonstrable willingness and ability to learn quickly). Experience supporting asset management clients is preferred but not required. Junior candidates will be considered for Associate/ Senior Associate level positions.
