Position Overview

The Printshop Specialist is a hands-on, detail-oriented staff member responsible for the physical deployment and recovery of all official event signage in the convention center, outdoor areas, and convention hotels. Operating directly under the Printshop Lead, you will execute the vital pre-convention task of assembling sign holders, placing physical signs in their precise locations according to the master sign index, and ensuring directional and informational markers remain clear. Following the event, you will systematically remove, inventory, and pack away/dispose of sign assets. If you enjoy active, physical work and take pride in transforming an empty venue into an organized, easily navigable convention space, this role is a perfect fit.

On-site presence is required to assist with setup and teardown activities the day before and the day after the event

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will focus on spatial staging, physical placement, index tracking, and post-event asset recovery

Pre-Con Signage Setup

Assist in unpacking, assembling, and preparing physical sign holders, stands, and frames prior to the official opening of the convention

Placement & Indexing

Systematically place directional markers, room signs, and safety notices in their designated locations throughout the venue, adhering strictly to the master sign index

Post-Con Teardown & Recovery

Execute the systematic disassembly and collection of all physical signage, frames, and hardware after the convention closes, organizing items safely into storage containers for transport or disposing per master sign index

Collaborative Team Support

Assist fellow Printshop team members with logistics, shifting extra inventory, and taking on other operational tasks as directed by department leadership

Qualifications

Required

Attention to Detail

Strict reliability when reading location codes, navigating venue layouts, and double-checking placements against the sign index

Physical Capability

Ability to stand, walk extensive venue distances, bend, lift, and carry bulky sign stands or stacks of physical media during setup and breakdown days

Punctuality & Shift Reliability

Strict adherence to setup and teardown schedules; venue signage must be fully deployed before attendees arrive on site

Preferred

Fandom & Convention Knowledge

Familiarity with convention flow, high-traffic bottlenecks, and general fandom culture, helping you spot potential issues with signage placement

Basic Tool & Assembly Skills

Familiarity with basic hand tools (e.g., Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, zip ties) used to assemble or secure structural sign stands

Spatial Awareness & Problem-Solving

Ability to recognize when a sign placement might obstruct foot traffic or door swings and politely coordinate minor adjustments with your Lead
