About The Role

Content Strategist

Bloomberg is a leading provider of news and financial information. The News Product, Technology and Publishing team develops solutions that give Bloomberg Terminal customers access to the most critical information impacting financial markets from more than 200,000 news and social media sources.

What’s the role?

We are looking for a dynamic, analytical and commercially-minded Content Strategist to help prepare social media and news content for an agentic AI future.

In this role, you will work within the Content & Audience Strategy team to shape how news, analysis and expert content should evolve as client workflows become increasingly AI-mediated.

You will help translate customer needs, market trends, product priorities, audience data and editorial expertise into clear content strategies that guide product, use case, sourcing, metadata and measurement decisions.

This is an individual contributor role reporting into the Head of Content Strategy. The team is responsible for shaping Bloomberg’s content strategy across regions and subject areas, ensuring content on the Terminal remains relevant, trusted and impactful for clients. The broader team works closely with newsroom, product, technology, data, research, sales and marketing partners to align content strategy with client needs and Bloomberg’s business priorities.

Your initial focus will include developing differentiated content strategies in two important strategic areas

First, you will support the evolution of Bloomberg’s breaking news offering. This work is focused on ensuring that breaking news is not only fast, but structured, contextual and reliable enough for both clients and AI systems to identify, interpret, retrieve and act on material market events.

Second, you will help develop a new approach to sourcing and structuring influential expert voices in the market. As market commentary becomes more distributed across newsletters, independent analysts, expert communities and other external platforms, Bloomberg has an opportunity to identify, evaluate and integrate high-signal perspectives into Terminal workflows.

Across both areas, this role is about helping Bloomberg’s content become more useful to human readers and more legible to AI systems. That means thinking carefully about client workflows and needs, structure, metadata, event identity, source authority, signal quality, client intent and how content is retrieved, cited and recomposed in AI-powered workflows.

We’ll trust you to

Develop clear, evidence-based content strategies for priority areas of Bloomberg’s news offering

Help prepare Bloomberg’s content for agentic AI workflows, where systems proactively surface, contextualize and help clients act on information

Translate broad strategic questions into practical recommendations for content, product, persona, sourcing, metadata and measurement

Work closely with product partners on real-time news, breaking news, alerting and monitoring experiences

Help define how breaking news should evolve from a headline stream into a more structured, connected and machine-readable event experience

Clarify what content needs to exist, how it should be structured, and what metadata or classification is required for AI systems to retrieve and interpret it accurately

Develop frameworks for identifying, evaluating and sourcing influential expert voices, including independent analysts, specialist commentators and other market-relevant perspectives

Help define source selection criteria, credibility signals and governance models for externally sourced expert content

Use audience insights, usage data, client feedback, competitive analysis and editorial judgment to identify content gaps and opportunities

Create concise strategy documents, recommendations, frameworks and briefing materials for senior stakeholders

Partner with newsroom, product, data, engineering, sales and other teams to turn strategy into practical next steps

Help define what success looks like for content strategies, including client outcomes, usage signals, AI retrieval quality and business impact

Maintain alignment across teams by turning complex, cross-functional issues into shared language and clear decision points

You’ll need to have

  • Experience in content strategy, news strategy, editorial strategy, product strategy, audience strategy or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in news, financial information, social media, product, research, strategy or another fast-moving content environment
  • Strong understanding of how professional audiences use news, commentary, analysis and market information to make decisions
  • Strong interest in how AI is changing the way clients discover, consume and act on news and information
  • Ability to turn complex content and product questions into clear strategic frameworks
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce crisp, structured documents for senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical judgment, including comfort working with both quantitative data and qualitative evidence
  • Ability to work across editorial, product, data, technology and commercial teams
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous areas where the answer is not yet obvious and the work requires discovery, synthesis and judgment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to move several strategic workstreams forward at once

We’d love to see

  • Experience working in or closely with a newsroom
  • Familiarity with financial markets, business news or professional information products
  • Experience developing strategy for content products, news workflows, content classification, metadata, discovery or user engagement
  • Understanding of real-time news workflows, including alerting, monitoring, breaking news, escalation and follow-up
  • Familiarity with AI-mediated search, retrieval, summarization or answer experiences
  • Experience thinking about how unstructured content can be made more structured, discoverable and reusable
  • Understanding of how client segments differ in their news needs, from real-time decision makers to deep research users
  • Experience using audience data, product analytics or client research to shape recommendations
  • Ability to balance editorial judgment, client utility, product feasibility and commercial impact
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to influence without direct authority
  • Comfort working in a high-paced, demanding and evolving environment
  • If indicated, please note that years of experience are a guide; we will consider applications from all candidates who can demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.
